Personal Development (RISE)

Part of our Readily Improving Social Engagement (RISE) Curriculum. Aims of this course include:

  • To develop self awareness and appreciation;
  • To explore social sciences and develop understanding of foundation economics;
  • To entice learners with home economics;
  • To improve confidence levels;
  • To make the learner functionable within mainstream society whilst embracing cultural principles;
  • To explore the presence of morality within African nations;
  • To engage in practical activities and field trips to aid understanding of aspects above.

Brief:

This course embraces elements of each GCSE core subject of Maths, Language and Science, and allows students the opportunity to develop and express themselves.  Students have the unique opportunity to also explore the Contribution of Africans on the continent and in the said diaspora, to Science and Technology facts and fiction. Lecturers of other African-centred organisations will also be visiting students to highlight the pioneering advances made by Africans in developing world civilisations, using Mathematical Precision and scientifically sound architecture, to create such worldly wonders as the pyramids of Kemet (modern-day Egypt).  The subject is very interactive, and allows learning at varying levels. Personal Development, as part of PMA's internally devised curriculum, is one of the 9 subjects available on RISE.
